Turkey Bolognese Family Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • Whole-wheat pasta, uncooked - 300 grams
  • Yellow onion - 3/4 medium (120 grams)
  • Garlic clove - 3 medium (12 grams or 3 tsp minced garlic)
  • Olive oil - 1 tbsp (14 grams)
  • Ground turkey, 90%+ lean, uncooked - 600 grams
  • Sea salt - 1/2 tbsp
  • Black pepper, ground - 1/2 tbsp
  • Basil, dried leaves - 1 tbsp
  • Oregano, dried leaves - 1/2 tbsp
  • Thyme, dried leaves - 1/2 tbsp
  • Cuimin, ground - 1/2 tsp
  • Crushed tomatoes - 2 1/4 cup (545 grams)
  • Hemp seeds - 2 tsp (7 grams)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Cook the pasta according to instructions. Do not use any extra oil or salt to cook it.
  2. Chop the onion and finely chop/grate the garlic.
  3. Place a large pot over medium heat and add the olive oil. Once hot, add the onion, garlic, and ground turkey. Season with sea salt and pepper and cook for 15 minutes. Break down the ground turkey into small pieces while it cooks.
  4. When ready, add the remaining spices (basil, oregano, thyme, and cumin) and the crushed tomatoes. Mix gently and cook for 1 minute, then turn off the heat.

Gastric sleeve serving: Serve 60 grams of cooked pasta together with 105 grams of Bolognese (turkey with the sauce) and garnish with 1 tsp of hemp seeds per serving. Makes 2 gastric sleeve servings. Enjoy!

Regular servings: Divide the remaining pasta and Bolognese by the listed number of regular servings. Do not add hemp seeds. Enjoy!
